Scholarship Application

The matrix below highlights the three different types of scholarships. Please use this flowchart to select which scholarship best fits your educational path. Once you have identified the scholarship that aligns with your educational path, you can proceed with the application process. It is important to carefully review the eligibility criteria and requirements for each scholarship before submitting your application.

College Scholarships

Goal: The Oneida Health Foundation hopes to encourage employees to advance their education in nursing and allied health careers.

Value: The Foundation will offer several awards of up to $3000; which will be distributed in October.

Recipients will be selected on the basis of scholarship, character, service to the hospital, and financial need. A selection committee will be composed of the Foundation Scholarship Committee and hospital representatives from integral areas of the hospital.

Applications must be completed in full at least 2 months prior to the semester you are applying for. This means that the application and all supporting documentation must be received at least 2 months prior to the start of the semester.

Requirements:

  • Be an employee of OH for at least one year.
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Be accepted at an accredited nursing school or allied health program.
  • Be involved within the hospital community.
  • Agree to work commitment to OH equal to the duration of the scholarship.
  • OR, Agree that the scholarship will be considered a loan to be repaid.
  • Provide a copy of the Financial Aid Package provided by the Educational Institution you will be attending (Financial Aid/Loans etc.).

Supporting Documentation Needed:

  • A personal letter from the applicant.
  • A recent unofficial transcript.
  • Financial aid package from institution/tuition bill.
  • Two (2) work reference letters.
  • A complete application submission.

Certification/Training Scholarships

These scholarships are designed to support employees who are pursuing additional healthcare training and certifications. We aim to empower and encourage talented individuals to achieve their educational goals and contribute to our Oneida Health team. By offering these scholarships, we hope to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within our organization. We believe that investing in our employees’ education will not only benefit them personally, but also enhance the quality of care we provide to our patients. Through these opportunities, we strive to attract and retain top talent in the healthcare industry, further strengthening our position as a leading healthcare provider in the community.

Requirements:

  • Be involved within the hospital community.

High School & Allied Health Scholarships

Goal:  The Oneida Healthcare Foundation would like to offer a cash scholarship award to qualified seniors at our local high schools.  The Foundation recognizes the increasing need for health care professionals, and especially nurses, in our community. The US is facing a shortage of nurses, and it is crucial to support and encourage students who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.

Seniors who have been accepted into a recognized college health career program are eligible. This award is available to anyone in the nursing and allied health fields. Professionals in allied health care provide a variety of diagnostic, technical, therapeutic, and support services related to healthcare.

The Selected Student Must Be:

  • A graduating senior who is in above-average academic standing or an Oneida Allied Health student.

  • Should exhibit academic and personal potential for a successful post-high school education.
  • A contributing participant in extracurricular and/or community activities.
  • Accepted into a 2-year or more undergraduate nursing or allied health program.

Priorities:

  • Given to a senior accepted into an accredited college or hospital-based nurse training program.
  • Allied Health students in the Oneida Healthcare Program.
  • Students entering an accredited allied health program (excluding pre-medicine).
